Users who have disabled YouTube's browsing history will see a completely different main page of the platform: instead of recommended videos, there will be almost nothing on it. This was announced by the administration of the service.
The initiative was characterized by Google as a "new viewing experience". If the user has disabled the history of views on YouTube, and the corresponding data in the account are absent, the video platform simply will not be able to recommend anything to them. Only the search bar, as well as links to the Shorts, Subscriptions, and Library sections, remain on the homepage.
The administration of the platform added that the innovation will be implemented gradually over the "next few months," but individual users of the service have already noticed the change. Instead of a feed of recommended videos, the page displays a notification that reads, "Your browsing history is disabled. You can change your settings at any time to receive the latest videos recommended for you."
Google explained that the interface changes will help users understand which YouTube features work based on the collected browsing history. The innovation will also prove useful for those users who prefer to find videos to watch on their own and do not want to familiarize themselves with recommendations.
