Apple has made an update to TestFlight, its app testing platform, to support apps designed for the first visionOS beta. This means that developers will be able to use TestFlight to test apps specifically designed for the upcoming Apple Vision Pro headset.
According to Apple's developer update, TestFlight now enables both internal and external testing of visionOS apps, as well as testing of iOS and iPadOS apps on visionOS. This functionality expansion aligns with Apple's plans to release Apple Vision Pro developer kits later this month.
While Apple has not provided detailed information on how the developer kits will function, they are expected to assist developers in bringing their apps to life on the Vision Pro headset. The kits will offer the opportunity for developers to build, iterate, and test their apps directly on the headset. Apple also has plans to open Apple Vision Pro developer labs, located in Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo, where developers will be able to visit and further refine their apps.
In addition to supporting visionOS apps, the latest version of TestFlight also includes compatibility with apps created using the third Xcode 15 beta. This means that developers can now test apps built with the latest beta versions of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, tvOS 17, and watchOS 10.
